Billy Hogan was 28 years old when he disappeared during a flight from Danbury, Connecticut to Houlton, Maine in May of 1972.
A memorial brick will be placed in the museum’s memorial walkway to honor Billy’s service.
Billy’s brother, Jerome Hogan, was presented with a US flag from the National Guard.
The search for Billy Hogan began in 2015 and was organized by Jerome with the help of coordinator Malcolm Brydon, as well as a team of volunteers stretching from across the state.
“I could not believe the outpouring of support for trying to locate Billy, to help the Hogan Family find closure,” says Brydon. “Today is kind of a stamp, you know. It’s a stamp that the military appreciates Billy’s service, and the public appreciates everything Jerome’s doing.”
“Him and I were really close. This is why I’m doing it. I know he would have done it for me. I’m doing this for him, and I’m doing it for my youngest brother and two sisters in Houlton,” says Jerome Hogan, “I started this and I’m not giving up.”
Brydon hopes that the event will draw in more help for the ongoing search.
