The free to register “Family and Community Fun Day”, organized by the Adoptive & Foster Families of Maine took place outside the Augusta’s Elk Lodge on Saturday.
This was the third event this year from the organization, with activities including balloon animals, lawn games and free food.
The event included appearances from local foster care organizations, the Augusta Fire Department, and the Lisbon Falls Aubuchon Hardware, who donated $4,000 dollars to Adoptive & Foster Families of Maine.
Organizers and vendors were very grateful for the outpouring support and appreciation being given to both foster and adoptive families.
“This is kind of a small piece of appreciation that we can show them, but I always want to focus on the hard work they do, and how much need we have for them and respect we have for the work that they do,” says Resource Family Program Manager Meagan Sprague
“Anybody who wants to support this wonderful group, I would suggest they can do it and become a foster parent if they can‚" says Adoptive Parent Grace Cooper, “It’s just a wonderful journey.”
Two more Family and Community Fun Day’s will be taking place later this year, with an event in Presque Isle on August 8th, and an event in Rangeley on September 20th.
