This video revolves around the Fields Pond Audubon Center located in Holden, Maine, and the various events that take place there. One of the many goals at Maine Audubon is to educate younger children about wildlife ecology and to peak their interest in the field early on.
Specifically, one of the events held at Fields Pond Audubon Center is the February Vacation Camps, where each day instructors choose a theme to follow along and be engaged with, and on February 20th, 2024, the theme of the day was winter birds. Students gathered around various bird feeding spots located alongside the Fields Pond building and observed many birds that call the area home, such as the chickadee and blue jay.
Later that day they went with Program Director Daniel Lamon in order to clean out bird boxes and become more engaged with wildlife ecology fieldwork. The goal of THIS video is to showcase the various activities at the Fields Pond Audubon Center that help educate the youth about wildlife ecology.
